NATHAN CLARK born in 1816 in Canada the same year that his father Nathan Clark Jr. passed away. He grew up in Canada and married Elizabeth (Betsy) Forkner. Betsy was born in 1820 in Perth, Canada, the daughter of William Forkner, a representative of one of the pioneer families of Canada. Nathan was a blacksmith by trade and followed that business in Canada until the family moved to Waddams Township, Stephenson County, Ill. about 1849 where Nathan purchased land. He cleared and plowed the first furrows on this farm and this farm was his home till his death on April 13, 1874. He is buried in the Lena, Illinois. Cemetery. Betsy came to Superior, Nuckolls County, Neb. to live with her son, Nathan A. Clark, and passed away in the home of her daughter. Viola Hintz, in 1897. She is buried in the Superior Cemetery.
